Introducing, ME! The new and improved me, because now, in addition to all the regular wonderful things about me, I hold a Masters of Fine Arts in Photography! Woot woot. Tonight was graduation. Since there were only ten of us graduating we got called up one by one by the program director to shake his hand and receive our "faux-ploma." It was all very liht hearted and jovial and I noticed that when I walked up the program director said "Congratulations, Clickmom." in a most serious voice, so I said "Thank You, director." Then I listened to see if he congratulated anyone else in a serious voice, and nope nope nope. I was the only one. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
The director was overly nasty/rude to me twice this session. Once was while he was curating the gallery show. He spoke out loud that he wanted a single image for a certain space and one of my classmates said "What about one of Click's black-and-white images?" and the director said "No" and mumbled, "Like they're going up..." out loud. Then he said to me, "So we decided not to put your black-and-white work up, right?" and I answered "No, we haven't discussed anything, but I brought plenty of work so that I would have options." That evening, after the students were gone, the other two advisors came through to look at our work and discuss the show. The next day it was decided that I would have two black-and-white images and two color images on the walls.
The second event happened right before our day off. The director asked one of my classmates what we were doing and he said they were going to hang out at the lake. The director asked me why he wasn't invited to the lake and I said "I thought we weren't allowed to be friends until after I graduate." because he tells us that all of the time. He said "Yeah, like that's gonna happen."
But now I am free!! And the first thing I am going to take care of is to cull my incredible archive of prints from the last two years and make more books, and get my work out into the world. Hello world! I'm here! Buy my photos! I have an MFA!
