At the Hancock Shaker museum in Pittsfield MA we saw a television that was probably from the 1950's. Josh commented on how ancient it looked and said it was probably from ancient times when there were only 5 channels. I told him there were only 5 channels when I was growing up. The thought was unfathomable to him.
Because there were only 5 channels back then, we pretty such knew what was on each channel at given moment. I have this totally creeptastic memory of standing in front of the tv with my mom and lil sis when the Jerry Lewis telethon was on (it's on right now, that is what sparked the memory) and my mom was crying and she put her arms around us and kept saying through her tears how glad she was that we were normal.
I can still smell just the tiniest bit of lingering skunk funk if I put my super sensitive nose on bear bait's head.
School starts Tuesday. Tomorrow we will be shopping for school supplies. I've seen them on display the last 6 weeks or so but I just couldn't bring myself to face the reality. Summer is over.
So, it's back to the posh club (Just like you Pippa!) for me. I am going to text the stretcher in the morning and see if he can make room in his schedule to whip me back into shape. Admitting what an exercise slacker I was this summer is going to be hard. I started off with such good intentions.
In the dietary department, I had Josh on a gluten and dairy free diet for the first 6 weeks of summer. Watching him, I suspected that he shares my food sensitivities. He went off the diet when he went to camp, and I figured I wouldn't force it on him until we were back in stepford (we are as of this afternoon) but about a week ago Josh asked me to take him off gluten and dairy because he has had a stomach ache since camp. I want to have a gluten and dairy free house. It makes my life so much easier. At some point, doesn't something get to be all for me? Can't everyone else look out for my best interest for a while? I can ask that, and not be asking too much can't I?
Television was introduced to South Africa in 1976, with only ONE channel, which started at 6PM and closed at midnight. The rest of the time there was just a test pattern. We only got our second channel in 1981!
You're the master chef in the house, Click, I'd say make it all about YOU. Point is: EVERYONE will benefit from going dairy-free and gluten-free, as simple as that. If you have to do it slowly and surreptitiously, that's also fine, mwahahaha!
The moment I've sorted out the paperwork for the gym and can walk in there with my towel, you're the first I'm letting know. (Shiver, gulp.)
GOOD LUCK with getting back into school and the whole hog!
