Well, guess who went to his own camp today! I couldn't decide whether to send you this picture or the the photo of me and dad grinning as big as we could in the car, but in the end I decided this photo is nicer. So, camp ABC couldn't be more opposite than your camp. As we approached Evan's camp the landscape got greener and taller and more lush, and as we turned off the road into his camp it was pretty much turning onto a hillside forest with a road carved into it. You had to peer through the trees to see the bunks and cabins and I am afraid I might not have given Evan enough bug spray!!
Evan's bunks are all old wooden cabins with wooden bunk beds. (no air conditioning for Evan either). I can tell you that without a doubt everything that Evan manages not to loose will come home pasted with dirt. It is going to be scary. It's going to be like he is camping for the whole three and a half weeks. No, camping will seem like a four star hotel after his camp. He is going to love it.
Anyway, Josh's friend Sam came to our rescue and invited Josh over for the whole day so he didn't have to take the ride with us. Dad and I brought him in and left. Evan jumped right into the swing of things and as we drove away we saw him kicking a soccer ball with another boy. I'm sure he'll be fine.
Dad managed to bump another car while trying to unpark to leave at Evan's camp and I was so excited to have the chance to tease him back, (yeah, I may have neglected to fill you guys in on this little hapening here, the one where I backed my truck into the husband's brand new Benz and did almost 10,000 worth of damage he he he) but as luck would have it, even though he bumped the other car, he managed to bump the one and only place on the other car where it wouldn't completely crumble and need an incredibly expensive repair. As a matter of fact, there was no dent at all on that other car. Life just isn't fair sometimes. I guess Dad is just a novice compared to a car denting pro like me.
We came home from Evan's camp, got Josh, had dinner and then went to a family dessert buffet at the old folks home with GG. I think Josh ate his weight in cookies. He is getting very good at avoiding all the old folks who try to grab him and squeeze as he darts by on his way from the cookie table to the brownie section. I took some photos of the event for that nice lady at the desk who is starting to run the place and they are going to mail them into the paper. Speaking of the paper, I am pretty excited to get this week's paper, I am all over both the our town's issue and the next town over's issue. If it is as good as I hope it will be maybe I'll send you a copy.
Lil sis was supposed to come up (or down) tomorrow to see GG but they are predicting severe weather (thunderstorms) for the entire day. Not very good driving weather and Lil sis has a pretty far drive, so I don't think we'll be seeing her.
Remember when I photographed Josh's friend's pregnant mother's belly? And you helped watch her 3 crazy little boys? She loved the photos so much that she asked me to photograph her with the new baby. He is 8 days old. I am shooting them on Friday. I can't wait. And don't worry, I am not getting any crazy baby ideas. I just want to snuggle someone else's baby and then give it right back.
I'm hoping we get a letter from you, not that you are in competition or anything, but Evan's camp makes him write home twice a week. Remember, Nana and Pop-Pop are at our address too and they would really love to see some letters. (Yes, I am playing the grandparent guilt card) So, let us know how it is going and what you are up to. Did the Frankenstein inspired movie pan out? Are you reading the original book? Have you brushed your teeth and hair? Showered?
Love you lots,
Miss you more,
Mom
(okay, here is the photo I thought about sending to Matt, the one we took exiting Evan's camp, after we shouted WE ARE FREE WE ARE FREE! Two kids down, one is managable)
