Wow. I'm so sorry! I would think pretty highly of the surgeon's diagnosis if it means that nothing would be surgically removed, because that's what surgeons do. So if your mom wouldn't be cut open with the surgeon's recommendations, that's pretty powerful to me.

OF course I would get a second opinion as well.

This sort of stuff sucks so bad. A good friend of mine is currently going through that hell too... from a few cancer cells found on her cervix at a regular well-woman exam, to having two biopsies taken of her cervix, to now she has a nickel-sized tumor on one of her ovaries. And then they gave her chemo while she was out of it, which she didn't want to take!

I hope she gets a second opinion as well, although I know how she feels. I tend to ignore my diabetes about 98% of the time.
