Let's review bear bait's last week: (5 days actually)
Wednesday: A lovely warm puppy shampoo afternoon hose bath with the adorable 3 year old across the street assisting. Too cute. Summer stench gone! My nose is happy, not so much bear bait.
Thursday: Skunked. Hose bathed with an eye stinging mix of peroxide, baking soda and dish liquid, in the dark with temperatures hovering in the 50's. I wasn't gentle. I was cursing the whole time.
Saturday: decides to walk herself, gets caught by the dog catcher and spends the night in the pokey.
Sunday: released from her 14 hour jail stint at 8AM. She is shaken. She smells like industrial disinfectant. I decide to introduce the previous owners insane electrical fence set up to bear bait. She is trembling in terror. By 8PM she's run right through the electric fence and is on the prowl again. This time she is reunited with us after about an hour by a caring neighbor and the local police, who now have our phone number on a stickie posted in a convenient location.
Monday: Bear bait gets a new town dog license. A quick charger/checkbook fetching trip to utopia! Bear bait, upon vehicular release, immediately sniffs out a decaying something dead (never saw it) and rolls in it. 3rd time is a charm, she is hose bathed again, with the first shampoo I could lay my hands on, also in a somewhat hostile manner. I was only cursing internally this time because Josh was assisting. Bear bait can read my mind though She didn't dare move a muscle.
I love owning a dog. I was just thinking the other day how walking a dog is such a very zen thing to do, almost as wonderful as meditation. Bwah ha ha ha.
In other news, Evan posed a question this weekend. "Guess who is a big hit with the girls at new town high school?" It's him. DUH! I called that one 2 years ago. The husband picked up Evan's lap top and saw that hordes of new town girls are friending Evan on facebook. No surprise there. He's so frigging handsome and that pompous attitude draws them in like flies. My boy could be a politician. (No please NO !!)
Josh stayed home sick today. He said he had a stomach ache. He proved it late in the afternoon when I couldn't even think of going near the bathroom where he had just evacuated.
Now Evan is coming down something as well. Yay school!
